As far as family films go in 2008, Nim's Island has instantly become one that possibly could be great. The movie stars Jodie Foster and Gerard Butler and is about two different people whose lives are pulled together: one is an adventure writer that never leaves her apartment, the other is an adventurer living on a remote island. From there, let the trailer explain the rest of the story. The first half of this didn't seem too promising, but then as it gets into the later half with the pirate and mayhem on the island, I get the feeling that this could be the next Goonies or Hook. Take a look for yourself and behold the wonders of Nim's Island.
Nim's Island is co-directed by Jennifer Flackett, a writer and first time director, and Mark Levin, director of 2005's Little Manhattan. The film's screenplay was written both by Flackett and Levin as well as Joseph Kwong, and is adapted from a novel by Wendy Orr and Kerry Millard. Nim's Island will arrive in theaters on April 4th, 2008.
