According to Variety, Gerard Butler is set to star in the kids film Nim's Island. The film is based off the book written by Wendy Orr.

The film is about a girl who lives with her scientist father on a tropical island. One day her father's boat disappears with him on it and she is left to fend for herself. The girl starts to e-mail the author of a book she is reading and the author helps the girl manage.

The film also stars Jodie Foster & Abigail Breslin and is being directed by Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin. Filming is expected to begin in late July.

The film will be released by Fox Walden and is set for an April 28, 2008 release date.
