Will Gerard Butler be in Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen” after all? Snyder has said in the past that he wants Butler to be in the movie in some capacity, and Butler himself has all but agreed that he would like to have some part in the movie, even if it wasn’t a big one (his schedule would seem to preclude a too-big role that would require too much commitment). The guys over at UGO has the lowdown on the possible/probably Butler appearance (cameo?) in “Watchmen”:
Zack fed the CHUD team was the revelation that none other than 300‘s Spartan King, Gerard Butler, may play the character from “Tales From the Black Freighter”, the pirate comic book story that makes recurring appearances throughout Watchmen. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, imagine a comic book series where one of the minor characters is reading a comic book story about a lone survivor trying to stay alive on the open seas, abandoned by pirates to die a slow death but finds himself fueled by his desire for revenge. Now you understand what the “Black Freighter” story was to Watchmen.
Snyder is cagey about whether or not he wants Butler as his marooned man but he’s definitely up on doing the small story and including it on the eventual Watchmen DVD. “It’s just whether or not we get the money for it, and we’re working on it,” the director told CHUD.
So there, all you Gerard Butler fans, and I know there are one or two of you out there.
