MTV has announced the nominess for their film awards, and there are a few surprises in there. First one is that Gerard Butler is up for Best Performance for his lead in 300, and his competition is surprising as well. In fact 300 (Filmstalker review) is featuring throughout the awards categories.
Butler is up against Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles and Will Smith. From that list his strongest competition are Depp and Smith, with the possiblity that a music friendly crowd might grab Smith's dramatic performance.
