FRANK MILLER AND BOBBY MORESCO TO PARTICIPATE IN CINEMA SYMPOSIUM AT CAPRI, HOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL WITH MANFREDI, MOCCIA, ERRI DE LUCA AND MANY MORE

Brilliant comic strips author Frank Miller and Bobby Moresco, Oscar-winning screen writer for Crash, will be among the stars of the Fiuggi Symposium that is a featured event of the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival December 27-January 2.

The two American artists will debate and discuss the topic “Cinema, Where Are The Ideas?” with Italian and international authors including Valerio Massimo Manfredi, Erri De Luca, Federico Moccia, Roberto Andò, Mimmo Calopresti, Umberto Marino Maurizio Scaparro, Ricky Tognazzi, Ken Loach, Abel Ferrara, Mike Figgis and Kristof Zanussi. They will explore how the industry seeks material and inspiration for its near-term future: current commentary or literature, modern or classic, reality or fantasy, local or global. The symposium is promoted by Capri in the World Institute with the Sangemini Group in collaboration with Cinecittà Holding and the Film Commission of the Campania Region.

Frank Miller is an icon for lovers of comic strips. He has drawn for every major comic distributor, first coming to prominence with “Daredevil” and more recently seeing his creations on screen in Sin City. The new movie 300 is adapted from Miller's graphic novel of the same name based on the ancient Greek Battle of Thermopylae. Starring Scottish actor Gerard Butler, it will be previewed at the Berlin Film Festival prior to its opening on March 9, 2007.

After his successes with Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby and Paul Haggis’ Crash, Moresco is bringing 10th and Wolf to Capri for its Italian premiere as part of the Kimbo Premiere series. 10th and Wolf is the gritty story of a Philadelphia turf war between a mob boss and a street-tough GI who has returned home. Moresco will receive the prize "Capri - Master of Screenwriting 2006” from Casino of Venice, the 2005 edition of which was awarded to Vincenzo Cerami.

Promoted by Capri in the World Institute with the support of the European Union, the Councillorship for Tourism of the Campania Region, and the director general's Office for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities, the festival will screen some 70 films. Among the stars and industry leaders who have confirmed their participation are Terry Gilliam, John Irvin, Marleen Gorris, Forest Whitaker, Raoul Bova, Toby Jones, Laura Morante, Sean Bean, Ornella Muti, Federico Zampaglione and Claudia Gerini.
