WRATH OF GODS
Tuesday October 31 and Saturday November 4 at 10pm ET/PT on CBC Newsworld

When director Sturla Gunnarsson and his crew set upon Iceland to film Beowulf & Grendel, they expected the usual complications involved in filming a motion picture, but what they encountered made them believe the Norse gods were actually against them. Beowulf & Grendel is a medieval adventure-part legendary fable, part horror story-that tells the blood-soaked tale of a Norse warrior's battle against a great and murderous troll. Scottish film star Gerry Butler says, "This is the hardest film I've ever done." Canadian actor Sarah Polley calls it the most difficult film she's made since The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

While filming, the production team faces one disaster after another, but set and vehicle-destroying weather, ill-fated pagan blessings and repeated financial crises aren't enough to stop the ever-optimistic director and crew from completing the epic film.

Wrath of Gods is directed by Jon Gustafsson of the Great Canadian Film Co. (Gimli, Man.).
