The Rock hosts dangerous event
HOLLYWOOD -- There aren't that many award shows where red-carpet guests are warned to look out for the flying motorcycle stuntman overhead. Or where the host, in this case Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, begins the ceremony by crashing through a wall in a Brinks truck.
But Sunday's Taurus World Stunt Awards on the Paramount lot continued to flaunt its status as an anomaly among the town's kudofests. Even Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a former Taurus honoree, took time out of his Sacramento schedule to acknowledge his guardian angels and present Burt Reynolds with the action star lifetime achievement award.
The Taurus community lauded Gerard Butler as action movie star of the year thanks to his extensive stunt work in "300."
"One of the reasons why you get involved in an action movie is because you want to go all the way with it and do as much as you can without being suicidal," said Butler about forgoing a stunt double, "but every move I made in that film, I learned from them."
