Bravo to Gerard Butler, who has been crowned the world's newest heartthrob. The dashing Scotsman is enjoying the world-wide success of the movie "300" which broke all US box office records for the highest March opening weekend by raking in a cool $70 million dollars. Butler, who prefers to be called Gerry, has hearts all a flutter with his portrayal of Sparta King Leonidas in the Warner Bros. epic.
The multi-faceted actor has been cast in a variety of different roles including the lonely but passionate Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's movie version of the Broadway musical "Phantom Of The Opera" (who knew he could sing?) or his steamy portrayal of a adventurer rogue in "Laura Croft-Tomb Raider: Cradle Of Life".
Butler is known for having a global legion of dedicated fans that attend his screenings, public appearances and have supported him in his career through their many fan websites including the popular "gerardbutler.net". Butler who is very familiar with these fan sites, appreciates their devotion and support. He often can be found posing for photos, signing autographs and sometimes attends their conventions when his schedule permits.
Next up for the Scot is a thriller with Pierce Brosnan and a romantic comedy with Hillary Swank.
Gerard Butler has a connection to our city. Do you know what it is? We do....
P.S. Yes ladies, he is very single.
