Clumsy Scots star left Oscar winner Hilary Swank in stitches after pinging his braces at her during a seductive striptease
OSCAR-WINNER Hilary Swank needed stitches to a head wound after being twanged by her Scots co-star's braces as he stripped.
Clumsy Gerard Butler was performing a striptease during filming for their new movie.
The 36-year-old's braces pinged off Hilary's forehead, inflicting a deep gash as they shot a sexy scene for romantic comedy PS I Love You.
She was given emergency treatment by on-set paramedics in New York on Friday.
Sources on the set say Glasgow-born Butler was mortified at the accident and filming was temporarily halted.
A source said: "She was given sutures but she is recovering and in good spirits. Production will resume on Monday."
Glasgow-born Butler plays Swank's husband in the movie. When he dies, she struggles to come to terms with her loss.
But she discovers a box of letters with instructions to open one letter a month for the next 10 months.
Each letter contains a task to complete that helps her slowly get over his death and move on with her life.
Misery star Kathy Bates and Friends' Lisa Kudrow also feature in the film, which is due for release next year.
The star-studded cast gathered for filming last month in Dublin and County Wicklow, Ireland, and have now moved to the Big Apple's Lower East Side to complete the shoot.
Hunky Butler previously starred in Tomb Raider, Phantom Of The Opera and Dracula 2000. He was tipped to be the next James Bond but lost out to Daniel Craig.
Swank, 32, has won Oscars for her roles in Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby.
The new film has been adapted from the book of the same name by Cecelia Ahern, the 25-year-old daughter of Irish Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.
Cecelia's sister Georgina married Westlife star Nicky Byrne at a lavish ceremony in France in 2003.
