I am heading over to Warner Bros today to check out 300 and I have to admit that I am getting a little antsy. Since I have had an awkward arousal towards the film ever since the leaked Comic Con footage, I can easily say that I am (in the words of Gerard Butler) a wee bit excited.
Fortunately, it looks like my excitement is well founded, considering that 300 still holds a perfect score on the Tomatometer over at RT. Sure, it's only based of seven reviews, but it's a big seven!
Early Review: 300
By the time you wake up and read this (it is currently 1:08 AM PST) there will most likely be more reviews up for 300 over at RT. If that it is the case, don't write in shouting that the film isn't at 100% anymore; I would be surprised if it wasn't, however.
The film is currently stamped with "Fresh" thanks to a 100% rating. Here are some brief quotes from numerous reviews for the film.
Fine, fine, seven reviews:
Zack Snyder fulfills the promise he showed in Dawn of the Dead with a vivid, colorful saga about the heroic Spartans that's just as visionary as Sin City and is also more engaging and entertaining.
Emanuellevy
In between all the blood and guts, 300's careful costuming and sensuous style is intensely erotic.
CinemaBlend
Director Zack Snyder adapts Frank Miller's graphic novel with passion and creativity, proving that classical storytelling will never go out of style.
IGN Movies
Three Veedubs for under sixteen thousand, woohoo! Sorry... I mean, 300 prepares for theatrical invasion by kicking ass, woohoo!
300 opens to theatres on March 9th, 2007.
