January 31, 2007 - On March 6th, 2007 Warner Brothers will release the soundtrack to the highly anticipated cinematic adaptation of Frank Miller's seminal comic book mini-series 300, which follows the story of the 480 BC Battle of Thermopylae in which the Spartans went head to head with the Persian army.
The film, directed by Zack Snyder, features a score composed by Tyler Bates. Bates last worked with Snyder on his remake of Dawn of the Dead and is linked to the score to Snyder's upcoming silver screen adaptation of Watchmen.
Bates recorded the score at legendary Abbey Road Studios and employed the vocal talents of Iranian-born singer Azam Ali.
"My intent was to stay true to the inspiration of the film and that of the Spartans' freedom and will," Bates says of his score. "The greatest challenge was to bead a musical thread throughout the film's ever-changing landscape of visual art, while sustaining its epic and emotional qualities. I had to approach it in a style as inventive as the film itself."
The soundtrack will be released in two versions. The standard version will feature 25 tracks. The special edition deluxe-version Digipak, will also include a 16-page booklet as well as three two-sided trading cards.
