Why we are excited: After the failure of his big Hollywood break in The Phantom of the Opera, Scots actor Gerard Butler, who once played Attila, is back on familiar territory.

Plot: Adapted from Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name, this is about the Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fought to the death against the Persian army. Stars: Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro and David Wenham.
