Iceland's most expensive movie premiered

Beowulf, directed by Sturla Gunnarsson, was premiered last night. The movie, which cost around one billion Icelandic kronas was mostly filmed in Iceland using Icelandic actors. Producers are Frišrik Žór Frišriksson and Anna Marķa Karlsdóttir, and actor Ingvar E. Siguršsson plays one of the leading roles. Beowulf is based on the famous old English poem of the same name and is about Beofulf's battle with the supernatural Grendel.
The movie receved mixed reviews in Iceland, some likened to Lord of the Rings and others said it was more like Highlander 3. According to producer Frišriksson the movie is being shown in the US, Canada and Europe at the moment. Actor Gerald Butler plays Beowulf, and he is currently promoting the movie in Iceland.
