The DVD Dossier
Soccer Shocker
"The Miracle Match," an uplifting story of the history-making 1950 U.S. soccer team, will be released this Fall by Buena Vista Home Entertainment.
Inspired by real events, "The Miracle Match" is a dramatic account of one of the greatest upsets in sports history: the 1950 World Cup soccer match between the United States and Great Britain.
In the film, there is as much drama off the field as on it, as the players prepare for what seems a one-sided match. But strong passions and traditions shape this team of underdogs. Against overwhelming odds, the feisty U.S. team defies the doubters and defeats the heavily favored British squad.
"The Miracle Match" stars Gerard Butler, Wes Bentley, Jay Rodan, Gavin Rossdale, Zachery Ty Bryan, Patrick Stewart and John Rhys-Davies.
The film will be presented in widescreen (2.40:1), with audio in English (Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound), along with subtitles in English, French and Spanish.
Special features seem limited to just photos and information on the U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame Museum. And in a stunning display of PR idiocy, Buena Vista will release the film on September 12th, two months after many Americans were taken over by World Cup fever.
The Suggested Retail Price on "The Miracle Match" will be $29.99.
