Gerard Butler coverage to continue unabated at The Beat!
Best news of the week! Dear dear Gerard Butler has taken ANOTHER role in a comic book-themed, or more accurately MANHWA-themed film, as he will take the title role in PRIEST, which is based on the Korean comic of the same name. AMITYVILLE HORROR (remake) director Andrew Douglas is set to helm.
Michael De Luca, Sam Raimi, Josh Donen and Mitchell Peck are producing, with filming scheduled to begin October 1 in Mexico.
Cory Goodman script, based on Tokyopop's graphic novel created by Min-Woo Hyung, is a vampire Western. A warrior priest disobeys church law by teaming with a sheriff and a priestess to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped his niece.
Newcomer Steven Strait, who recently wrapped Screen Gems' horror thriller The Covenant and is filming Roland Emmerich's 10,000 B.C., is in talks to co-star as the sheriff.
Butler is, of course, set to star in 300, the ultra-macho, super-scantily clad adaptation of Frank Miller's GN, directed by Zack Snyder, which is set to come out next year.
Thrilled as we are by another round of DDGB coverage around here, we're also excited by the casting of Steven Strait. Strait has a long history as an underwear model, and played that moody, super hot fire-kid who was in SKY HIGH. We look forward to covering him in depth as well!
